5. Creating Homework Assignments

Homework assignments are automatically graded by the system and their results are reported in the grade sheet. After a homework assignment is created, its status can be in one of three modes: new, active or passive. The table below summaries the condition, availability to students, and what can be modified in each status.

Status Condition Availability to Students Modification
New

The release date is later than the current date.

Example:

Current date: 3/21/2004
   Release date: 4/15/2004

Not available to students until the release date. Can modify homework problems, release date, due date, due date type, and description of the homework.

The release date is on or earlier than the current date.

Example:
   Current date: 3/21/2004
